Channel One News recently aired a segment on Kids Caring 4 Kids on its netowrk.  Channel One, the leading television news network for teens nationwide, is delivered daily to nearly six million teens in approximately 8,000 middle schools and high schools across the country

Like many kids her age, Wheaton North junior Kendall Ciesemier, 16, maintains a busy schedule. In addition to attending classes, she runs cross country, serves on the student council executive board, and helps plan outings for special-needs students at her school.

Kendall Ciesemier is now 16 years old and a junior at a suburban Chicago high school. But when she was just 11, she championed a cause to raise awareness and funds for AIDS orphans and African children in need. It all started in 2003 when she saw an Oprah Christmas special about the plight of AIDS orphans in Africa.

Kerus Orphan Care Center—A Powerful Force for Positive Change in South Africa! 

It’s hard to imagine, but South Africa has an estimated 2 million orphans!  We can’t help them all, but we at KC4K can help some. And that’s why we’re so excited to announce our latest project—this one in partnership with Kerus Global Education. We’re helping to build the Kerus Orphan Care Center near Pretoria, and it will be ready for kids in January.

Kenyan Kids Say Thanks!

Why are these Kenyan students saying thanks? Because KC4K provided the funds to buy 10 acres and build a Girls’ Dorm for orphans in Ngulini—and the kids are watching it go up! Built in partnership with Bright Hope International who has multi-faceted work in this impoverished community, the dorm will be “home” for over 30 girls, mostly AIDS orphans, who now sleep several to a bed in a crowded classroom.

President Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey and me! Can you believe it? I was so surprised and so excited to meet President Clinton at my high school and then to be on the Oprah Show the same day. During the show, President Clinton told me that a friend of his was giving KC4K $500,000! Unbelievable! The Oprah Show aired September 4, 2007 and again on Thanksgiving Day.
