Fundraiser

Fundraiser F.A.Q.s

How do I get started planning a fundraiser?

Request our i care 2 kit. The kit is all about energizing, informing and enabling students and groups to see how good it feels to make a difference for kids whose lives have been turned upside down by AIDS. The kit has lots of resources to help you plan your fundraiser, including an inspiring DVD to share with your friends.

Where do I get ideas for a KC4K fundraiser?

Our websites has a lot of success stories and fundraising ideas, so you can see what other groups have done to raise money for Kids Caring 4 Kids.

Who should create a fundraising page?

Anyone who is holding a KC4K fundraiser can set up a fundraising page for themselves or for their group.

Where do I get ideas on what my page should look like?

Look at some current fundraisers.  You’ll get ideas for photos, what to call your event, a message to include, etc. Be creative and express your personality or the personality of your group.

How do I start creating my page?

Log-in and follow the directions.  You’ll be asked for your user name and password. Remember this so you can go back into your page to make changes. Once you log in, you will be asked for the name of your fundraiser, a message, the dates and location of your event, and your goal (how much you want to raise).

What if my fundraiser isn’t an event? Suppose I just want to ask people to give online at my page?

That’s fine. You don’t have to hold an event. You could accept online donations to your cause as your fundraiser, perhaps in honor of your birthday, “Make a Difference Day,” or just because you feel KC4K is  an important cause.

Do I need to set goal for how much money I want to raise?

It helps to have a goal because people will want to help you or your group reach your goal.  Some people might even donate a second time if they see that you are close to reaching your goal.

When should I set up the fundraising page?

Set it up when you are ready to start promoting your fundraiser. Then share the link to your page with people through email, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

What if I need help creating my page?

Email info[at]kidscaring4kids with your questions. Be sure to give us your name and phone number and someone will call you or answer your question by email.

Can I have a fundraising event without asking people to give online?

Yes.  You don’t have to ask people to give online.  But suppose you have a big garage sale to support Kids Caring 4 Kids but many of your relatives live out of town. You could set up a page and then email your relatives to tell them that you are holding  a garage sale to raise money for Kids Caring 4 Kids, a nonprofit organization that provides hope and care to AIDS orphans and vulnerable kids in Africa.  They could still support your cause and help you reach your goals of $500 (or whatever your goal is) by visiting your web page at (insert link) and by giving online.

What is money to Kids Caring 4 Kids used for?

The money raised is used to fund programs helping children impacted by the AIDS epidemic in Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Ghana and Ethiopia. Funds have helped to build orphan care centers, drill boreholes for clean water, fund daily feeding programs, provide bikes and school uniforms, shelter rescued children, and more.  Feel free to include this in your promotion. Check out our projects for more details!

Is it safe for people to give online at my web page?

Yes, people can donate safely online with a credit card. All  donations are secure and are sent directly to Kids Caring 4 Kids by Paypal.

Will the people who donate  get a receipt?

Yes, they’ll first receive an email from PayPay acknowledging their gift. A couple of weeks later, they will receive a mailed receipt and thank you from Kids Caring 4 Kids.

Are the donations tax-deductible?

Yes, donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Kids Caring 4 Kids is a registered public charity under Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Will people who give to my fundraiser be added to the KC4K mailing list?

Not unless they sign up for our newsletter at our website.

What if someone from the local media wants to do a story about our fundraiser and Kids Caring 4 Kids?

Direct them to our newsroom. They will find lots of information there to help them,  including a "Media Kit."

Can you tell me the Kids Caring 4 Kids story in a few words?

Founded in 2004 by then 11-year-old Kendall Ciesemier, Kids Caring 4 Kids is a registered 501(c)3 organization.   The organization caught the attention of national media and landed Kendall  on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 2007, accompanied by President Bill Clinton. She was also named One of America’s Top Ten Youth Volunteers by the Prudential Foundation in 2007.

Kendall’s initial goal to raise one million dollars to provide care and hope for AIDS orphans has inspired several thousand students and adults to raise funds through service projects, basketball tournaments, karaoke contests, bake sales, donations, and other creative activities. Kids Caring 4 Kids has already raised over $750,000 to help fund programs serving children impacted by the AIDS epidemic in Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Ghana and Ethiopia. Monies have helped to build orphan care centers, drill boreholes for clean water, fund daily feeding programs, provide bikes and school uniforms, shelter rescued children, and more.
