About

How We Work

Kids Caring 4 Kids is a lean operation with an ambitious two-fold mission:

  1. Raising funds to extend hope and opportunity to kids in Africa through proven programs that effectively meet real needs.
  2. Giving kids in North America a global vision—inviting them to have a part in something BIG and showing them how it’s done.

Kids Caring 4 Kids has no paid staff in the U.S. or on the field in Africa. Instead, we seek reputable organizations to partner with who share our passion. We receive requests regularly to support a variety of programs, so some general principles define the kinds of projects that capture our heart and attention.

Here are the kinds of programs we support ...

  • Programs that are effectively meeting the needs of vulnerable children—especially those orphaned by AIDS.
  • Programs with a geographic focus on the continent of Africa.
  • Organizations and programs that are recognized as trustworthy, with a proven track-record of addressing real needs.
  • Projects that will inspire other children and young people across North America to open their hearts and hands to meet the needs of others.
  • Organizations with a conscious emphasis on making every dollar count. Operated by non-paid volunteers, the goal of KC4K is to keep expenses low and maximize the impact of donations on supporting children impacted by AIDS.
  • Organizations who are committed to high accountability and keeping in close touch with KC4K with personal stories of impact and life change.

Meet Our Current Partners

Bright Hope International serves the poorest of the poor, in corners of the world where the people earn less than $1 per day. Working with local leaders who know their communities best, Bright Hope delivers programs that meet physical, educational, financial, practical and spiritual needs. Through Bright Hope, KC4K is providing weekly nutritional meals to over 600 orphans, widows and AIDS patients in two Zambian communities. We also supplied funds to build a badly needed dorm in Kenya to house and care for 30 orphan girls who had been sleeping in a classroom.

World Vision is an international Christian relief and development organization with a long history of proven impact. They work in nearly 100 countries around the globe to find lasting ways to improve the lives of children and their families. Recently KC4K provided World Vision with funds to drill wells and boreholes in two Zambian communities where they desperately need clean water to keep people from getting sick. No longer will people need to walk great distances to find water, which often is contaminated.

Kerus Global Education. “Kerus” in Greek means to “do something with passion.” And the passion of this organization is character development and prevention of HIV/AIDS. The two women who founded Kerus, both with doctorates, are leading spokespersons worldwide on HIV/AIDS. KC4K funds have helped build and outfit the new Kerus Orphan Care Center in Soshanguve, South Africa that eventually will serve about 100 children daily.

Hope for Life Center (Kenya). In partnership with a suburban Chicago church (Wheaton Bible Church), Kids Caring 4 Kids supplied funds to build a community center in this region swelling with AIDS orphans. The center was begun by a Kenyan woman whose heart broke because of the overwhelming need for orphan care in her community. Every day, over 120 AIDS orphans children receive meals, homework help, skill training, and love.

World Bicycle Relief.  Although they work in many developing countries, World Bicycle Relief has a goal to provide bikes to 500,000 adults, orphans and vulnerable children in Zambia where HIV/AIDS is rampant. Yep!  Bikes, because they provide access to healthcare, education and economic development. KC4K has given $30,000 so far to this program so AIDS affected children who live far from school can get there more easily.

Touch A Life Foundation. One of the very unfortunate effects of the HIV/AIDS pandemic is the use of children as laborers. Touch A Life Foundation rescues children from this plight. Because our passion is caring for kids, KC4K is partnering with Touch A Life to care for rescued children in Ghana, providing them with daily needs of food, shelter, education, and health care.
